Xbox one

I would stay with that method.

Many people are advised to buy cheap 12v adaptors for laptops etc, this is great until the adaptor fails and damages the power circuits in your device. There are lots of videos online of devices having to be fixed (costing hundreds of pounds) or scrapped because of not using the OEM power supplies.

Use a pure sinewave inverter, My inverter is 93% efficient and then there is the loss in the actual power brick, but this loss will not be much more than a cheap power supply.

OK thanks for that Phil I will stick with the brick as we only use the Xbox for streaming sky go

Buy yourself an Amazon firestick or similar device and install SkyGo on that.
Nice idea but won't work. You can't install Sky Go on any Amazon devices, including the Firestick or their Tablets. You also can't install Sky Go on the Now TV devices (this is because Sky, who own Now TV, want Now TV owners to buy the monthly passes).
And annoyingly if you run Sky Go on a tablet that supports it, you cannot cast the screen to a TV for a big picture.

I guess if someone is so inclined, you can sideload/root/or whatever the terms are to run pirate software to do this but most people don't want to do this (I don't personally).
FWIW, I have Sky TV, but I use Now TV for Sky Cinema as it gives the same features and with offers can be £7 a month cheaper.

There are good offers if you shop around
Now TV stick with 6 months entertainment
Then add Movies at half price

Sky Go on the Firestick

Can you not get a usb to hdmi adapter for your mobile 'phone and then use an hdmi cable plugged straight in to your tv?

What about a Rasperry Pi with Android on? Low 5v power and very small. I'm suggesting Android because I've a got feeling that Sky don't do Sky Go for Linux but I don't mind being proven wrong.
Don't think of the fireestick as a waste of money, I use mine for browsing, BBC iPlayer ITV hub etc.
