Beware TV DETECTOR VAN

The BBC makes a lot of money (which will subsidise the Licence Fee) by selling programmes worldwide. Other countries tend to be funded by advertising and I expect the format needs to be suitable for this.
Surely they should cater firstly for the people who pay the license? Other countries who buy programmes should be the ones having to make do with things being how they should be....

What are you whingeing about?
You are happy to freeload off the rest of the country that pays for the BBC.
I don't know how you can form any view about BBC tv as without a licence it is illegal to view any of its programmes at all.
That'll be why they are considering adopting pay per view on iPlayer.
Here we have the stigma that because someone legally not requiring a tv licence is a "free loader" where do you get that from? I DO NOT WATCH LIVE TV, THERFORE I DO NOT REQUIRE A TELEVISION LICENCE! I wish people knew what they were talking about before they put " what they thought into words"! I am legally declining to contract for a service I do not receive! I rest my case!

Stigma? Really? I come under the frequently used FLT heading as I am often parked up somewhere without paying for it? Am I stigmatised, I don’t think so, maybe need certifying but that’s about all.

I do think this pc stuff gets taken way too far. If someone is to ever watch a BBC episode and doesn’t have a license then it is free so the original statement would be correct wouldn’t it.

keep calm and carry on :)

Boris gonna make the first step decriminalisation of no license now they will have to encode there output they’ll soon be cutting back on the big salary’s

I don’t agree with fat at salaries anyway so not before time :)

At least we know what they are unlike the other companies - I somehow doubt that Piers Morgan is on minimum wage 😀

i. think it was reported that for the olympics itv sent a team of 64 bbc sent 223 jolly for the boys

I'm amazed ITV sent anyone after not bothering at all with the London games.
This may well explain some of the difference

I rather expect that the quality and breadth of coverage by BBC reflects the differential of inputs.

Once again I am stating I'm no free loader or winging stating facts! I personally don't watch the programme's the BBC push out like Panorama , politics programme's, are they are bias and full of left wing s##t! Maybe now when I say I don't require a tv licence , those people that speak the English language understands what I actually mean without adding their sleight on what I've actually said. 👍 Keep Calm.🥴

There's no need to single out particular programme types - after all without a licence all BBC programmes go unwatched 😀

We sat in the van last night! Middle of nowhere near Malvern hills, Me reading motorhomer, janet researching her book when this flashed up on my iPad it had detected a Wifi signal and was asking me if I wanted to log in View attachment 51351
Sure enough on looking out the door there was a white van with funny antennas on and sign writing on the side of the van,
Now we don’t watch the TVs in the van but what would have happened if we had been
Lets hope Boris Johnson does what has been suggested, decriminalise none payment of the fee, abolish the BBC tv licence

If the licence is abolished then there won't be anything to decriminalize??

just had a thought reading this ... could be fun if you have a MiFi Router (or active Phone hotspot running) to name it "TV Dectector Van" or maybe "Road Tax Dodger Detector" or various things and watch how people react as you are parked up :D
I was thinking exactly the same 😂

I haven't had TV for at least 40 years, don't watch it and so no licence. I have a tv in the van which is used for listening to the radio or watching DVD's. Similarly I have a computer, phone etc on which I could watch TV programmes, but don't. It's the watching of live TV or downloading to watch later that requires a licence.

Personally, I think it's time the licence fee was scrapped.
Actually it is a dual TV radio Licence so if you use it for the radio you still need a licence. Ha ha

For all you that bemoan the cost of the TV licence, can you honestly say hand on heart :

-You have never listened to a BBC Radio Broadcast for either news, entertainment, sport or music ?
-You have never watched (as you claim is legitamate for free on catch up) any BBC TV programme.
-Your wife or you has never watched a soap ?
-You have never been moved by any of the BBC cultural or Charity activities eg Children in Need.

Do you derive all your news from FOX News , perhaps from Mr farage ? or believe Mr Trump, you may well believe that the BBC has a left bias
but how far right will Mr Murdoch and Fox go without a BBC ?

As for the high earners, the stars and management are paid a commercial rate, probably less at the BBC because there is a cache to work for the BBC.

Do you think Rupert Murdoch earns less than the Director General of the BBC ?

Perhaps there is some comfort in the fact both Labour and Conservatives are complaining of BBC bias ?

Just leave it be, the BBC Licence is only £154 ( £12.83 a month), if you want to save money buy a black and white TV, Licence fee is then £52 (£4.33) or grow old to 75 and it's free.

If you want Sky TV :

or you do not want to pay anything above the licence :

These are streaming, good for entertainment and repeats but little or zero current affairs, culture or live TV. Netflix are not making much money, so how much will their charges go up if there is no BBC ?

If the BBC is slightly to the Left, then surely that is barely balancing out the bias of the rest of the press ? There is a distinct Right bias in most newspapers .
