Can you figure this out?

You have a shirt worth £97, plus a pound = £98 and you owe £98, so nothing is missing. The 98 + 1 is like adding apples and oranges.
 
You paid £98 for a top?
Must have been a shop with big windows ‘cos they saw you coming...
 
Try this with your fingers and thumb , Left hand thumb is number ten count down to your Left little finger which is number six add the digits on your right hand [ 5 ] 6 plus 5 is 11 there is the missing pound?
