For interest, I visited the storage compound, just to see how the door was behaving and report back to you, Annie.

The thin wipe of olive oil continues to do the job, and the whoosh-bang door opens beautifully using the outer handle.

I sincerely hope your fix is as simple.

We have exactly the same problem with ours when the door has not been opened for a while and as above open carefully from the inside the first time, we also found it useful to clean the metal the seal touches with a solvent solution to make sure that there is nothing to stick to
Always look for the cheap fixes first!
