My insurance company are recommending RAC Continental Breakdown cover but I notice that the policy is restricted to just 1 Continental call-out per policy year. Any other recommendations gratefully received.......

Mine is with RAC Arrival - special scheme through C&CC. Expensive, but peace of mind.

I'm with ADAC but that is not an option to new subscribers.

Word of note: remember if your motorhome is >3.5t, the options becomes more limited (I think in that situation, the C&CC Arrival scheme as mentioned by Caz is likely the best)

That sounds like a policy that is not fit for purpose.
How can they be allowed to use the word "continental" in the policy title yet only allow one continental call out? Beggars belief.

I'm with ADAC (which is the German equivalent of what the RAC and AA were before the members sold out to the money men) but I hear they will not cover new UK residents.

I'm using the add on from Comfort. £65.
It's through the AA. But doing it through the AA direct, it was over £200 from memory.
It worked well in France. Rescued within an hour, sorted within another hour. Up to 6 different breakdowns within a 12 month period.
Hope this helps.

To make this fully accurate, ADAC will not allow any NON-GERMANY Residents to join (nothing to do with UK specifically).

Isn't that health insurance?
Think this is about Breakdown Insurance.
Covers both as well as mobile phone, not as good now as they have reduced the interest on your account balance, but definitley covers breakdowns UK and Europe.

Nationwide Flex Plus account gives European cover plus some other benefits, benefits aren’t so good if you are over seventy.

You need to study the small print on any policy... Barclays Travelpack use RAC and cover vans in Europe up to 7.6M but the same policy only covers up to 5.5M while in the UK! Barmy and so far no satisfactory explanation for this conflict but it's there in black and white and you don't want to be stuck by the side of the road arguing about if your van is covered or not.

Was a very good Breakdown/Recovery deal, until recently, where the 3% interest on a max. of
£2500 dep. made the £13 per month charge respectable. Now no interest given and I think it's £1 p/m
more, make it less attractive.
The travel insurance section has extra conditions for 70 yoa and over, as is imposed by most
travel insurers.

We've got Flex Plus. Now I'm over 70, seems the cover is worth, not a lot🥴
I think the cover is still reasonable as it covers my motorhome and car and both of us in any vehicle, also mobile phone insurance. I know the travel insurance isn't so good over 70 but even at £13 a month it wouldn't make me change and buy those things individually. Of course it was even better with the interest but hey ho.

Yes and it was always planned that way.
Incentivise people to take up a fee paying bank account. Gradually reduce the incentives. Eventually have no incentives but people will be used to paying a fee for a bank account, then.....
...end of free banking (which they have wanted for decades).
To add insult to injury this is a mutual BS rather than a bank trying the tactic.

Throughout all my caravanning and motorhoming days I've never taken out breakdown cover, relying on my own abilities to get home.

Before that, I never took out breakdown cover on my cars abroad either. Came close to the wind when a Mini slave cylinder collapsed crossing the Apennines. My girl friend was angry and said "Now what are you going to do?" I walked 100 yards and around a corner was an open Innocenti Mini garage. Less than an hour later we were on our way.

I've been lucky with vehicles. 🤞

Problem with modern motors though is that they are soooooo complex now. Fixing your own motor will become a thing of the past soon as those of us that have gone from bangers to limos ( by comparison) and have learnt all the get-me-home tricks give up or die out to be replaced by young'uns used to reliable motors serviced by "technicians"
Shame all those skills and tools will go to waste... unless you own a classic ;)

Ps. I reckon you make your own luck;)
