hi folks, my ‘55 Adria Twin’s sliding door stopped halfway, ideal, then if you wanted to open it fully you just pulled the external handle. My newer 08 door doesn’t stop halfway and is a bloody nuisance!! If it closes fully I have to get out to pull the external handle to close the thing which means wet or cold feet....what would you call the “thing” that I’d need to google does anyone know....or any good ideas?? Just so I don’t have to get outside to close the thing...... :)

Google 'stopsy'. Unfortunately it is only supplied by a German company and is extremely expensive for what it is but it's the only manufactured solution although there are lots of DIY solutions.

I saw a thing advertised that stops the door 1/2 way it stops the gas getting blown out ,can’t mind where I saw but will look and reply asap

Does your door not have a handle on the inside?

Once the door has fully opened, it's impossible to reach around the kitchen to the inside door handle. Once it's on the end stop, it takes a bit of effort to shift it back - so fingertips over the cooker/sink to the inside handle isn't an option.

Mine has a halfway stop - but it doesn't always stop there, so I have to get out of the van to reach the outdoor handle to pull it back to halfway and persuade it to stay there.

It works most of the time, but if I open it too violently or am on a slope then sometimes it does go all the way back.

Mary's van doesn't have a mid way stop, hence her original question.

once mine has opened all the way I used to be able with the other Twin to grab the edge of the door towards the top if I was inside to pull it closed but this newer one doesn’t work like that, I have to physically get out and pull the black outside door handle all the way out to move it closed.....

Stopsy is also expensive for what it is but it is neat

Make your own... If you have an X250 then this will do the trick. A piece of metal 100x22 MM bent as in photo and secured with three pop rivets. Rivet it in place to the upright of the bottom track.
It stops the door even when the nose or tail of the van is high by retaining the original catch in the centre section.
Simples...

Should be the same for an x290.
