inverters

hi guys . i am changing my old inverter ( 10 years but still works ) for a newer model MUST be able to run a 700w microwave .
i was told renogy is a good make https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124893985265?epid=14048835059&hash=item1d1442f9f1:g:KAUAAOSw445jvRbI

Your 700W microwave is really a 1100-1200W Microwave when you look at the power label on the back, so first thing to remember is whatever you go for, a 1000W Inverter won't cut it.
The 2000W Renogy you have linked to seem to be well regarded and the price is not bad. The UPS feature is nice (that means if you have EHU available, the microwave will use hookup power instead of battery without having to mess around moving plugs around).

thanks for that wildebus your right about power startup . my old inverter is 3000w which i bought when we toured off grid a lot but now we are on hookup most of the time now so a 2000w inverter will do ( in our md seventies now ) so only need to use the inverter say stopped off in a layby for meals on our days drive
or the odd Aire with no hookup . our setup is 2/ 150w solar panels through a mppt regulator feeding 3/110ah battery's powering the inverter.

I have a 1350W microwave (which is what the Victron Multiplus 12/1600 is, to confuse people :) ) and it is just enough to run my 800W Microwave (not much leeway at all mind).
A Microwave is dead handy for a quick roadside meal isn't it? :D

hi. to right it give the driver a break plus we like to stop in a nice layby to make the journey complete so a quick microwave meal is just the job plus easy for the wife. Cheyanne

My 1000W Renology inverter arrived this morning, will be installing it this week. It looks well made and has all the necessary cables, clear manual, etc.

cheers for that they are a bit pricey but if the 2000w will run a microwave it will do .cheyenne

Please be careful when fitting the Renogy inverter. My 3000w came with woefully undersized cables, and an instruction manual not showing the necessity of an inline fuse.

I never use the cables that came with my inverter as I all ready had 35mm cables and fuse in place + they didn't look heavy enough for me .
It will depend on the inverter supplier, but often the cables are not only not heavy enough, they are not copper but copper-coated aluminium, which has a much lower current carrying ability. Double-bad whammy!
Quick way to tell ... Heavy copper cable is floppy. aluminium is stiff and it you bend it it tends to keep the bend. Cable like that supplied with inverter should be binned.
