LPG problems ahead

Now that many of us have gone over to LPG or like myself considering doing so for cooking and heating, problems could be looming in the future.
The MFG (motor fuel group) one of the biggest forecourt operators in the UK have already indicated in April 2022, that they plan to remove all auto LPG from their forecourts by 2024. The internet is buzzing with people who are worried about this development and the impact it could have for motorists and motor homers alike.
With bottled gas an on going problem, Morrisons near me has not had gas for weeks, and today they had a delivery which was sold out before lunch time.
It seems that we are out of step with Europe in this, which will be no surprise to us that consider ourselves Europeans.

Don't know why this keeps coming back up, I have still yet to be in a situation where I can't get gas and I am probably out a lot more than most people. I am a low gas user though. Think I will just start ignoring any gas threads in future where they are about shortages

I wonder if this will b the issue when more Electric Motors are on the roads , signs saying sorry no Electric 😄😄

It will only be an issue for those incapable of planning ahead or unable to use Google or any of the LPG apps, Liz keeps whinging about it and we don't even have refillable yet ffs.

The garages are scraping LPG because they see electric charge points as a bigger money spinner. You will have someone on your forecourt for 50 odd minutes while their car is charging. Some are charging 4 times the cost for electric and of course they can sell you a Costa and a load of other snacks to keep you going until the next stop.

Yes MFG are pulling out of LPG. Yes MFG have 900 forecourts. Is this significant. No. Most MFG forecourts did not sell LPG in the first place.

The number of filling points is reducing and we may need to plan our refills a little more carefully. The same will apply to petrol and diesel in years to come as fossil fuels are phased out.

Don’t Panic.

We would do just like we did before, top up the gas when topping up the diesel, but choose garages that sold both, if it got a bit low on fuel then fill up and get gas when passing the next one that has it, Gleaner seems to be keeping it. as for EVs the bottom will fall out of that once Hydrogen kicks in.

We have 2 LPG Suppliers in Kirkcaldy, one at either end of the town. Asda is 7p per litre cheaper, but the Payment Canopy overhang is a PITA, whereas Morrissons at 79.7p per litre, has the LPG Pump alongside a Diesel Pump, and requires payment at the Kiosk. For the £1 or so difference, it's not worth risking the Exit Canopy at Asda

I Chuck my safefill bottles into car boot then take the less than ten minute drive over Install Oil, who supply lpg and other stuff .

Thank you Okta, informative reply, just what I was looking for. Must look into your assertions.

EV sales have been massively outstripping sales of lpg converted cars for some years That is the main reason pumps are vanishing. There will always be some availability but the motorhome refillable market is tiny in the scheme of things, and will not have an effect on the viability of keeping pumps .Pain in the bum it is.

Has anyone got any plans in place to overcome the lpg problem like making modifications to your vehicle , some manufacturers are offering deisel truma heater option at extra cost in place of gass , compressor fridge is another option but many smaller vans could not carry sollar and extra battery. That would be needed ,
