What is it with people and other people's dogs?

I like dogs but the subject is a can of worms! - that said, it’s the irresponsible owners I don’t like. Most can’t read or completely ignore rules.
On the said CAMC site, like most, the rules are “Dogs on a lead, max 2 meters” (or similar words) yet virtually all dogs are on retractable leads of anything well over 2m. Wo betide you pointing it out to the owner. The same said leads used in public places are a constant hazard.
A beach can have a ban on dogs but I can guarantee most will have dogs on them regardless. Common answer “I saw other dogs on so thought it was OK”, even though they had just gone past a large sign saying No Dogs!
Another little gem - “It’s only a puppy”, with very sharp teeth! The list can go on and on!
I have several friends with dogs who are very responsible and have happy pets. Look after your pets AND people so everyone can be happy.
Have I put the cat amongst the pigeons - or is that another subject!

Bought this from Temu, honestly, it brilliant, the Rockster has room to move, plenty fresh air and good vision for him to nose around. While in Spain we found a broken parasol, I removed the material and fit this to the top with pegs to shade him.

It all folds away and takes up minimum space in any camper and very light.

We don't have a dog, but I do "doggy daycare" for our daughters dog. I can see both sides here, but a couple of points. Just because the owner is or may be antisocial, it doesn't mean the dogs need to be. Dogs are better when socialised with other dogs and people. It helps dispel their "excitedness" and makes them safer around others. And dogs are inextricably linked to humans, any humans unless trained otherwise.

But as has been said, very many people, non dog owners and other dog owners, seem to think that it is a right to be able to stroke or pet the dog! I see no problem if a child wants to stroke the "doggy" but parents should ask first. Our Buddy is placid and excitable, but so far has been safe around everyone he has met, but it doesn't mean he will always be the same. We have bad days, so can dogs.

When we have been away as a family, including Buddy, we have made many (temporary) friends on sites and even in free places. Everyone who meets Buddy seems to love him, so I hope that the antisocial ones park well away from us, because Buddy WILL want to meet you! This is our Buddy. Walking through Looe on a crowded day I chanced to trip on along dog lead. I caught myself and did not fall. the owner accused me of kicking his dog. Had it been my wife that tripped she would have fallen, I liked dogs and their owners even less that day.
 
Maybe an important point has been missed here. People at 'Fests' of any kind tend to consume alcohol which loosens their inhibitions a lot. They are out for a good time and in a happy mood.
 
Why do the complaints and comments seem to be about dogs. Parents who have no control over their kids and let them run riot, are far worse than most pets. It may be better if the kids were put on leads and only allowed out occasionally.

My dog is a magnet and very sociable which attracts the attention of lots of people mostly girls, I don't see a problem in that.😉 😂 When in Pitlochry a few weeks ago and it took a while to walk down the street meeting lots of people and other dogs, the big burly man with the handbag pooch was also getting lots of attention. 😂
 
Many dog owners seem to think dogs are people. they are not! We are people and most people seem to think people are more important than animals of any kind though animals need respect, of course. Neither are they gods though some seem to think they are.

Not at all, Eric, probably the other way round. It's complete strangers who allow their dogs off lead, uncontrolled, who seem surprised that I should object to the animal bounding up uninvited and trying to plant its mud-laden paws on my jeans. Brereton Heath Lake is especially bad

If I wanted covering in mud and rainwater, I'd have continued as a goalie in Birmingham Parks football ... :ROFLMAO:

I was sitting drinking coffee outside at a motorhome exhibition. Wet day puddles everywhere. Dog on very long lead bounds across the path nearly tripping people over to pit both front paws on my trousers. No apologies just a "well he's on a lead. What more can I do?" Spoken to noone as owner just sauntered off. On a lead but not under control.
I had to walk around rest of day with muddy paw prints. Shame there are some thoughtless pet owners
