Any one use a memory foam topper or self inflating mattress for extra comfort in their MH?
Looking to improve support and comfort due to back problems, any advice welcomed please!!!

Toppers are excellent for aiding support and comfortableness but do not buy a cheap one. Its difficult to asses their suitability when the a wrapped up our first one was from Home Bargains but after trying it out realized, once again, you get what you pay for. Found that if you get 2" thick (50cm to youngsters) that it provides what we were looking for

Ours is a made to measure from Duvalay, so comfortable, we both have bad backs! Definitely improved the mattress that cane with the van.

We have an Ikea mattress topper on our bed at home and that has been great for many years but in motorhome a previous owner had just fitted a 13" thick sprung mattress so all we needed in there was some steps for Caz to get in it :)

We use a mattress topper from major superstore on top of the existing cushions and it is exceptionally comfortable. We both have back issues and this solution certainly works for us. In event the rear lounge was to be used for seating we can, after a struggle, roll the topper up and strap it with one of these luggage straps and put it in or on the overhead drop down bed.

I couldn't be without a memory foam topper... or 12! Thickness, 2 inches at least but the thicker they are, the more difficult they are to roll up and store. I've got a full Tempur mattress on my bed at home and have toppers for every other bed in the house and varying sizes for the van, depending if I want to just sleep on the sofas, pull out half of the 7ft bed or the whole kaboodle. I haven't found much difference between cheap or expensive ones but I always buy a 'Coolmax' cover if the topper doesn't come with one.

Tip: If you make up your van bed every day, buy a couple of those click-release suitcase luggage straps to anchor the topper into a smaller, tidy roll for stowing... or just use a couple of old 'slidey' type belts. Bonus is the straps act as handles for lifting etc

I agree entirely with the storage issue raised. When we had a smaller camper with a rock and roll bed, it was a morning ritual to roll up the mattress topper, put straps around it and squash it into the space under the seat. It did not appear to suffer from this treatment although it always put up a good fight. With the fixed bed in our later, bigger vehicle the topper stays in place as it would at home. We sleep very well on it and so recommend mattress toppers.

I use a 1" memory foam topper from Dunelm, evens out any bumps. A single fits the (supposedly) double bed in my Trooper very well, just a narrow gap at each side. I push the dog to the edge. ;) It rolls up easily with the duvet and goes behind the seat. I used to use a belt to keep it rolled up but found it wasn't needed and it's extra work - I have to be quick or the dog jumps back on before I can get it sorted.

We have a proper memory foam mattress made for a motorhome fixed bed. You can buy them online. Measure the bed including the curve if you have one. They make it to size and send it. You can trim it if needed. Stays put and is wonderfully comfortable. Worth every penny.

I use a mattress topper contained in a king size duvet cover. I find it more comfortable in the van than the good quality memory foam matress at home.

When I use the full sized topper in the van, I too put it in a king size duvet cover as the sheet... the width is very nearly right for the standard length of toppers isn't it and you can turn it over after a while for a clean sheet the other side :ROFLMAO: I've toyed with the idea of cutting some down to fit my narrower van toppers but never got round to it, so I settled on using stretchy fitted sheets. King sized ones stretch right round both sides of my single topper, so it's all enclosed and the elastic bits keep it all in place.

I have a small campervan with r & r bed I use Duvalay, the topper and the quilt all in one rolls up goes into a bag, rolls out done in no time.

I've used a memory foam topper and found it very good.

I wouldn't consider an inflatable mattress. They deflate as the temperature fluctuates and if one of you moves, so does the other! They really aren't comfortable in my experience.

We've been considering topper for a while now but as our current camper is only small would have to be easy to roll up as have put bed back to seating area each day are 1 inch any good or best go for 2 inch thick?
