Okay so my hob in my MH is shabby and not working very well so I ordered a new one mine has a drank hole in the back right hand corner.

So I ordered a new one with a drain hole this is what arrived.

After speaking to the place I bought it and Smev it appears they no longer import to England the one with the plug hole, it’s a cost thing with plug hole from Europe £560 the one I bought from Busmonkey LTD eBay £320 so what happens to the pipe that runs from the plug hole is it ok to blank it off somehow what if it’s a T junction to the sink drain as I don’t want leaks at a later date or should I bite the bullet and order one from the EU at the extra price.

Take the old one out and see where the pipe goes, then blank it off and fix it to something to hold it vertical. Well that's what I'd do :(
I think me taking it out is one step too far we are talking gas here lol I’ll have to book it into the MH place and hope they blank it off properly because I’m not prepared to pay an extra £200 for a drain hole.

+1 as well as Colin’s +1 :)

It’s waste water not gas Annie but I expect you mean the hob itself rather than the drain pipe. Can you see it in the cupboards under the hob/sink? If it is flexible pipe and you can identify it you may just be able to pull it through.

This topic's getting awkward to follow!
Some on WC, some on here.
My vote is for the brilliant options suggested over on WC thread 'Smev Hob', post #16.

The man's a genius!

Colin ???

Ah see, I only saw it here

Am I missing something here though, there is very little in a hob, is it not simpler (and cheaper) to buy some new components and keep the hob as it is?

Annie's hob has had quite a bit of use over the years, Neil, and when we tried to undo some screws holding the burners together found them to be pretty much corroded into one piece. And the rest didn't look as if it would dismantle for servicing. I think Annie's doing the right thing in trying to source a new hob. The other thing to consider is that Annie wants a gas appliance that she has complete trust in.
I've possibly found a supplier with a hob plus drain hole and have alerted Annie to that over on WC.

Can I just remind you female 64 and I don’t do gas I prefer just to pay a man to do a straight swap rather than start dismantling a brand new Hob I am at present in negotiations with the guy to get a discount for sending me what is in effect a cheaper model and as his photo has the plughole then it is false advertising plus the extra cost of blanking off the waste pipe he is going to ring me back in the morning.

You could cut a plug hole in the new hob if you really need one.

Funnily enough..... That's exactly what I would do too. I'm happy with a bit of metal fettling.

I'm rubbish working with wood though. I can't even plane a piece of timber flat.

Thanks guys but I am just going to seal the pipe and not bother with a drain.
Ours is the same as your new one Annie so no drain, I don’t miss one as I didn’t know they did that version till this thread. I would have thought it bad for the burners to be regularly wet when unlit but can’t be if that’s what they do. I do put a pot drying tray/stand (whatever you call them) on the hob for when I wash up so I suppose I do use it for draining :)

When I think about it I have never actually used it as a drainer but have boiled the spuds over and I still mopped up as I always kept the plug in so fat splash from frying didn’t go down it.
