Crit air and similar

Trying to cover as many potential problems before I leave.
Crit air I’m driving through France into Spain and Portugal. I have no real intentions of entering into cities. Tbh, I’ll do almost anything to avoid them.
So , would I need to get one for France, as I’m staying rural. And would Spain and Portugal have a similar system in force?
Thanks in advance

Crit Air is covering more and more of France, but the French seem to be ignoring it. All of the Vendee appears on the latest Crit air maps. The restrictions will only come into use when there is a polution alert. Polution alerts will be given on local radio. Who listens to local radio (and understands it) when travelling through France?
For the small amount it costs, get a sticker and then you are covered.
Spain and Portugal don't appear to have gone down that route - yet.

The French one is easy to get at little cost, so better safe than sorry?

You can check out this "Urban Access" site. Note that many of the restricted areas in France are departments (~ counties), but I haven't seen any of the departmental zones yet active. There's also a "Green Zones" smartphone app (at least for Android - others are available), so you can check the night before if there are any restrictions where you want to travel. To be honest, the French scheme worried me last year as my van is too old to qualify for a Crit Air sticker and there is a chain of zoned departments that cuts the country in half. I was praying that I wouldn't be south of that lot the day they all went active!

I had a french motorhomer explain to me that they didn't need a ctrl air cert as their details where already on the governments register ?
Now I believe He really though this to be correct whether it is I really don't know but might explain why the French aren't displaying badges.
Here's a picture of the Zone's if they where all activated at once theres only a small corridor to travel N to S

FWIW, I'm not sure that there are any reasonable roads that transit the small gap. I underwent that exercise last year and concluded that, once we were south of ZPAd chain, were were stuck if they all went active. Thankfully, none of them did. BTW, I'm not sure whether the A road network is exempt outside city limits. If it is, there is a (albeit expensive) way through.

Its the A20 North of Limoges thru Chateauroux to Vierzon that goes thru the corridor but a long detour if your not wanting to travel that way

Having problems loading a pdf onto their site. Can’t get it small enough.
First time I’ve had that complaint

Just checked my application for you.

I submitted a JPEG (rather than a PDF) and I reduced it to 242kb.

Worth trying?
Still struggling to upload the jpg (cheers Nabs)
Will try one more time on the laptop tomorrow. Can’t do it on phone. Not sure about iPad, so I’ll fire up the gas laptop and see if it works from that. I must have spent over 4 hours trying. Frustrating, especially when you only think you might be doing the right thing, and it still won’t work.

‘Tis done. At last. The old gas powered laptop came through. Only hope the sticker arrives before Saturday week.
Thanks must go to Nabs, my daughter Amy, the bloke on the back door at Morrison’s Clacton, two blokes in the dispatch office at Cullina Haverhill, and not at least to Nik for putting up with, my huffing and puffing, finding new words to express the parentage of iPhone manufacturers and being a complete pain in the ****.
Got to be honest, when I get the hump, I don’t mess about ?

I have just had the same problem. The French ask for max file size of 400kb which is very mean these days. The German site was no problem.
The French site suggested using a compression tool the only problem is that jpegs and pdf's do not compress much.

My scanner is broken (you can set the quality and therefore the file size).
So had to take pic of the reg doc on my iphone, then email to myself where it asks what quality. I managed to get the file size to about 200kb and it uploaded ok, but the quality is barely readable.

I have felt your pain.

Paul

Had an email from La Belle France this morning, confirming my application. Merveilleux.*
The email has an invoice and a copy of my crit air sticker,so if it’s not here by Saturday week, I’m covered. Happy daze.

Re the putor stuff. It’s easy when you know how. I’m still surprised when it works. To me it’s just one removed from black magic. FYI. I don’t mean a brand of chocolates.?
* They used google translate, so can I.
