We passed a low loader on the AP7 this afternoon carrying four 4 huge trees that had been lopped to within an inch of their lives. When Elaine wondered what kind of trees they were, I quickly replied 'Lloyds Bank trees', but she beat me to the punchline ...

'Because they've no branches left ...' :ROFLMAO:

Ours is going in March next year, we used to have 5 banks in the town next year we'll have none, mind you we're skint anyway !!!

I read that they are planning major repairs to a HMS. Victory.
There's not enough mature English Oak to do the job, so they are having to buy French Oak.
Ironic, innit?
I bet the French make them pay
Via le nez.

French oak is much cheaper than the English equivalent and better quality, partly because it's allowed to grow in peace! I bought £1300+ of French oak in 2011 for our floor beams and was told that the English equivalent would have been £4000+ ...
