How to Build a 3D Printer?

Hello everyone!

I've recently become interested in 3D printing and would like to try building my own. I've heard that stepper motors are key components for precise control. Do you have any suggestions for choosing a stepper motor? I found a website, skysmotor.com.mx, that offers a variety of stepper motors; would you recommend buying from there? Also, what other important components should I be aware of when building a 3D printer? Looking forward to your sharing and suggestions! Thank you!

I think a 3D printer forum would be the best place for advice on that; there are a few useful videos on YouTube too.

I know a few years ago a popular way to get into 3D Printing was to buy a kit that included everything needed and you would then construct it. Not sure how common that is now? What I do know is the 3D Printers I have now and bought ready-built were both cheaper AND better than the kit I bought however many years ago.

As far as the OP goes, call me cynical but it sounds a bit like a disguised adverting post quoting a specific supplier. But that is mayb just me :)

I would say for anyone new to 3D printing, sourcing different components from different suppliers and expecting them to all work together well is rather hopeful. Building a printer from a kit can for sure be interesting and a good way to learn but at least if from a kit you stand a reasonable chance of having a working device at the end, but from a random selection, who knows - and if it doesn't work, where as someone new to the hobby would you begin to look to fix?
