Hi, and apologies if this has been asked before, but has anyone fitted the xplorer Polarmax batteries from Alpha batteries.
If so what are they like?

Having 320Ah fitted next week as an upgrade to a 230Ah Roamer Lithium.

I have had 2 Polarmax Batteries in my Motorhome since they first came out (actually, BEFORE they came out! mine were production prototypes) and they have worked fine with zero issues. The model has admittedly changed a bit since then but kept the same features and I have heard nothing bad about these and have supplied quite a few via Alpha as part of upgrades.

Depends which Fogstar you are looking at? If you are looking at ones of similar capacity and price, one key specification difference is the Polarmax has internal heat pads and so you can keep the charger enabled and the battery accepting current at temps down to Minus 20C. A non-heated Lithium will disable incoming charge at a couple of degrees above freezing at best or you need to disable the chargers when the temp gets low.
 
This is great advice, so have gone and order a 100amp from Alpha today, any tips you can gave me on fitting and setting up would be most welcome.

I have a domectic mca1215 mains charger which I have been told can be set to charge at 14.4v and a victron mppt 75/15 with a 100w panel, we don't go offgrid much, just trying to save on some electric when on a campsite meter.

PS we have a Anker solix power bank for the mains

Time to get your Bankcard out and get a Forum subscription! David @wildebus is fitting my Polarmax Battery next week, and he, plus other members such as Merl and Phil Admin have a huge amount of knowledge and practical experience of motorhome electrics in particular, and of conversions/adaptations in general. You will more than recoup your subscription cost with the first piece of technical guidance, especially if you compare the price/delay that getting a Dealership to sort out the same problem would entail. Full membership also allows you to attend Rallies and gatherings

I have just fit a 150 polamax lifepo but only had it 3 weeks so cannot really give a review, except that the service was first class, and upto now is a great improvement on the 100ah agm it has replaced

I wish ... It's something I feel quite strongly about, Merl. We need to attract new Members to keep the ideas/queries fresh, and potential new Members need to be advised of the benefits of joining the Forum. And it's obvious [well, after it's been highlighted] that, with Dealerships/Fiat Professionals charging anything up to £175 per hour [often with a min charge of 1/2 hour] and sometimes providing wrong/incomplete information/fixes as can be seen on a variety of Threads, the first 'Forum Fix' or technical advice will save the annual subscription cost and then some.

Finally, for the mechnically/electrically inept [me ...], having a 'Forum Fix' conclude with an 'Idiot's Guide' explanation of how the repair or replacement works and how it can be tweaked or upgraded when budget and/or more time is available is something that a Dealer or Workshop will never provide. I've got all sorts of notes/photos of what I need to do for a variety of problems when I am away from Scotland, some of which came into play on our trip to Spain that finished last week. I would never have known about the hammer tap to free a sticking Gas Regulator without Jeff Mossy's tip to another Member at a Rally 3 years ago; not only that, but I found a Brit on the same Aire in Tortosa who had used the technique on his boat, so he knew exactly where to give the Regulator a tap - all I had to do was supply the hammer and say 'Thank you' afterwards, 2 local Motorhome Repairers were too busy to even offer me an appointment ...
