Starter motor change question

The starter motor on my 2008 boxer 2.2 with Puma engine has been sluggish so I'm replacing it. My question relates to disconnecting the battery negative of the starter battery, that's a given , but do I need to disconnect the negative of the leisure battery as well?

Hmmm... better just play safe and disconnect both then...

I think the -ve from the leisure battery must earth to the chassis, otherwise I don't see how the charge from the alternator via the relay would charge it.
I would have thought the easiest thing would be to disconnect both terminals on the starter battery, then you wouldn't need to do anything with the leisure battery
