Best way to go to Norway

Almost did it last year ! Stopped in Gothenburg.
Route from Dundee
Dundee to Harwich
Rotterdam -Berlin- Rodby
Rodby ferry to Putgarden
Drive north to Copenhagen
Oresund tunnel/bridge to Malmo
Drive around coast to Gothenburg
To Norway same route too Copenhagen continue to Hirtshal
Ferry to Kristiansand
Follow Coast road to Stavanger
Travel as far north as you want.
Worked in Stavanger and further north to Haugusund, lovely roads, nice people loads to see.Did this many years ago on a Honda Goldwing.
Beware all very expensive ! Go, enjoy make memories

We’re there now and enjoying every minute. We went Aberdeen to Newcastle, ferry to Ijmuiden (Amsterdam), drove through Netherlands, Germany, Denmark (via Wischhafen to Glückstadt ferry) to Hirtshals then ferry to Kristiansand. Not sure on which way to come back yet!

It would be really kind if you attach the occasional photo as you travel? It will help inspire others.

You will never tire of taking sunset photos. The sun takes about 6 hours to skim across the horizon. The next-to-last photo I took at 3:20 in the morning. The white dot in the top right is the moon. The last photo is my camper at the Arctic Circle.

When I asked Tony to add an occasional photo, that's exactly what I was hoping for.

How on earth can anyone not be inspired by your superb images 'gasgas' ?

There is a story in each of us, and I have been very lucky in all of my travels. From my teens when I first read about the poetry of James Elroy Flecker who never actually made "The Journey..." to the superb books by Sir Fitzroy Maclean, who most certainly did, I wanted to travel The Golden Road. It was a memory for life when many years later I made it myself.

Thank you so much Tony, they are superb images, even the dustbin 'cos it confirms everything I've read about Norway's lack of litter.

The fifth image from the end in the second set reminds me of the Stave Church from Norway I visited at Karpacz in Poland. The adjacent barn in your image (with it's red snow markers) suggests it's a farm? Its certainly a beautiful architectural style.

A few practical comments re Norway. No need for any apps to find places to stay- wild camping is allowed provided it is more than 150m from habitation. Just drive and stop if you see a nice place. Most roads have great rest areas.
Fuel and LPG pumps are nearly all automated and run 24/7 so no worries about filling. At the moment diesel is cheaper here than in UK
Get a toll tag and link ferries to it to save a packet
Watch your speed and alcohol consumption!
All roads (even the minor ones which we try to use) are smooth and litter free.
There are plenty of free dump and fill stations around, mainly at fuel stations

Driving up through Norway is so so so much better than taking a cruise. All you see on cruises are ports where they are expecting hordes of wealthy customers anxious to buy their souvenirs.

We've had friends who took cruises "to see the northern lights" and it later became clear they mostly saw the cafes and bars at the ports or docks, just as you say. They all saw the lights, but mostly when the crew called them at 'silly o'clock'. 🤭

We used the Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry, meandering through to Germany and Denmark, using the many free overnight MH stops to Frederikshaven ferry to Oslo, various prices available depending on travel days.
Return via The spectacular Malmo bridge / tunnel which was slightly more expensive than the outgoing trip but we'll worth the experience.
Enjoy the wonderful scenery of Norway far more beautiful and dramatic than rather bland Sweden.

Great info. Does LPG get scarce as you head further north?
What sort of temperatures are you getting?
Green with envy here.

Temperature varies with altitude and Norway has loads of mountains! This week we’ve overnighted with ice and snow around us and sub zero temps at night then driven 50 or so km down into the valleys and had just over 20deg a day later. The higher plateaux (eg Hardangervidda) still has frozen lakes and a fair bit of snow. The valleys seem to vary from 13 to 20+ deg. We certainly haven’t had the heatwave that UK has.
There aren’t a lot of LPG stations but they are pretty well spread north and south and all seem to work and be automated so 24hours. Best advice is if you are in the vicinity of a gas station then take the opportunity to top up even if you have plenty. I use myLPG.eu which is pretty comprehensive.

If you then venture to Sweden it is difficult to find, go to Finland and there is none. Come down the Baltics and there’s loads, almost every service station it seemed.

If it's less than two months you haven't seen everything. After three months you will want to stay longer. The real question is "how many years does it take to get bored with Norway?" I've no idea.
I will say that driving there is far far far superior to going on cruises there, having done three cruises. All you see are the fjords and fjord towns. On a cruise you won't drive through a 17.5km long tunnel with coloured LED lighting all over the canopy, with laybys you can stop and get out. Driving there, you will of course have mini cruises across and up and down fjords on the surprisingly cheap ferries. Some are free . . . .
Cruise sounds good to me , no breakdown worries good food no drink driving worries no cooking washing up , room service , but I am getting old
