i have installed a 12v fan in the top vent outside and conected it to the internal cab light cable when the lights are off fan works fine when i turn light on fan goes off have i wired this the wrong way round ?

I took mine off the 12v block for the fridge using an inline fuse holder for protection, this is the permanent 12v + NOT the D+ 12v that powers the fridge when the engine is running.

Del

I think the cab lights have a permanent 12V positive connected to them and the light is turned on and off by connecting the ground(or not) to the other end of the lamp.
This means that your fan is being powered via the bulb (in series) but when the light comes on you get nothing because your connection is now grounded. If your fridge has an interior light then there's a 12v supply available at the rear of the fridge somewhere, you just need to do a bit of digging around to locate it. If not then You need to pick up a permanent 12v supply and neg and wire the fan back to there with it's own switch or you can use something like this so the fan only comes on when the temp gets high in the rear fridge compartment.

Sorry pressed send before completion.
Or a compressor fridge. I have 12v compressor and would love to improve its current drain.

Hello guys the fan is a BRUNNER VENTO NG92 12V FRIDGE FAN with auto and manual control panel
Yep, so same thing applies re where you've picked up power, you've probably put a meter on the wires and read 12V and assumed that's 12v directly from the battery which it isn't, it's 12v coming from the battery via the interior light bulb and this point gets connected to ground in order to bring the light on. So when the light is on there's no power
