Today of the purchase of our N&B Arto aka, the "brick" which has served us well over the years, especially 2023 & 24 where we did a good few K miles. Internally is still as good as the day I picked the brick up, mechanically (and touching wood) been excellent. We had planned to be out in the brick for this day, but with our unpredictable weather, stopped home.

Lovely today, I'll go wind out the awning to celebrate. 🍾

It's 50 years ago today since I broke into a £5 note.

I vowed never again and I still regret it. Must be the Scottish blood found in my DNA. :(

Where did this event take place Jim?

It was in the big posh Anwoth Hotel in Gatehouse of Fleet, back when my In-laws had a static caravan at Auchenlarie. A group of us went for a meal and felt a bit out of our depth at the poshness but ended up getting the lock in because the Manager on duty came from a Pit Village just a couple of miles from the Pit Village I grew up in. Seven of us in a Triumph Herald, drunk as monkeys (including the driver) got home about 3 am. :ROFLMAO:

Well Jim

Well Jim, I have it on good authority, and for religious reasons, you have never burst a tenner, let alone a five pound note, so fake news from you sir!!

I was a kid when we had a family holiday at Auchenlarie in a static. I honestly can’t recall my age at that time, but a very young lad indeed. I got into trouble there, I would be up and out at the crack of dawn, and I was caught mounting one off the race horses there and tearing along a field on the horse. Parents were informed and what was left of this holiday, my early morning wake ups had me going down over the road to the stables to muck them out, it was a shit job 😂

I passed there the site a few year back, the main farmhouse was being refurbished, and what was the stable converted into what looked like accommodation?

Geeeezus, Auchenlarie sure is a blast from the past!!!

There was just a few tents in a field when my Wife, her Brother and Parents started going there. When they started the pony Treks, my Mrs and her Brother led the Treks. That way they got to ride all day long. In fact when we married in 1969 she bought her favourite Pony and he was brought down here. She reckons it was around 1957 when they first went to Auchenlarie.

I agree with you about the current Site. We actually had a drive around it in the motorhome on our way past it. It is massive and very commercial now. The family that owned it and the farm (McCulloch) sold it to a large holiday company a long time ago.
