almost to the day we got out in the MoHo.

We took it into Carmarthen for fuel and then on to a small place called Llansteffan: beach and castle...and a chippy that was open (although we took a picnic).

No rain and a nice run out for the MoHo.

Lovely.

Great question.

Not nervous but perhaps a little apprehensive. Fine after literally 1 minute though...as if I hadn't been away.

I was more worried about it starting tbh. I am a member of the Fiat Forum so followed their advice on not starting it at all during the 4 months. I had plugged in every 2-3 weeks for 48 hours or so, so this kept the battery in good fettle. I had also parked with the handbrake off as well.

I marked the wheels before we went so have parked with them in a different position now though there was no evidence of flat spotting after 4 months stationary tbh.

Why would they [ FIAT FORUM } say do not start the van when not using it never heard that before curious about that ?

I think this is one of those areas where opinion is divided over whether starting it and letting it idle does more harm than not starting it all.

I researched it and decided that it was better for the engine not to start it.

Over Xmas I was away c6 weeks and disconnected the leisure battery. The vehicle battery died. I probably needed a new one so the AA replaced it. The leisure was fine. As it's wedged into our drive and we don't have an outside socket, it's easier to run the engine. However I'd left it too long and the vehicle battery was dead when I came to drive it up to my house near Fort William for lockdown. An AA jump start got it going and it's been fine on alternate hookup and engine charging ever 2-3 weeks. On the engine charge weeks I moved it about a bit to turn the tyres too. Last week the vb wasn't charged enough to start the van but did take a hookup charge so back we came to Glasgow.

We are fortunate too being able to plug in every 2-3 weeks for a 48 top up.

Our solar panel is connected to both the leisure battery and the engine battery, so we never have any starting problems even after a long lay-off. We have had this arrangement on our last three motorhomes (including the nice new one we have just bought! :))
That's the set-up we have, together with a BatteryMaster that automatically manages a balanced charging between leisure & cab batteries.
