Evening.
Does anyone have experience of fitting/using these additional belted seats.
We only have 2 currently but with expanding grand children we would like to be able to take them away with us sometimes.
Are they removable easily as we are concerned about losing the storage space under the lounge bench seats we currently have, when we are away on our own.
Interested in any experience/advice please.

They have to be mounted with high tensile through floor bolts to a regulated size fixed steel plate, you can of course unbolt when required.
Side facing seats are not allowed these days, but you can have swivel units if you require for to turn around to dinning table if required.
Dont turn backwards when driving as belts do not work and kids etc could slip up and out in a crash.
Mine are mounted on a steel box frame which is in turn bolted through the floor, box under them is handy for storage, both seats swivel 360 deg.

Depends what year it is Trev.

If 2006 or earlier then lap belts are OK on side facing bench seats. If even earlier then seatbelts are not required at all.

Allowed or not they are dangerous and will snap your neck if sideways, lap belts are allowed if no part of the upper body can strike anything, truth is who would risk a second rate setup.
Side seats were banned many years back, 1989 springs to mind except for Mod ambulance and fire service, Mot here will fail it.

I understood these seats fix into existing lounge seat bases but face front and are belted. The fold away underneath when not in use?🤔
Have to be fitted by an approved installer, not available for DIY.

I don't know if there is any rule about not being available as a self-fit. Plenty of people fit travel seats themeselves into self-build campers.
Obviously these have to be fitted securely but is not out the realm of a competent DIYer.

Typically they would be permenant but you could install them with captive bolts protruding so you drop into place on those trips where needed and then fold down out the way when arrived. Or use something like Unwin rails (as used in loads of minibuses) securely fitted and then use the seats with quick-disconnect fittings for totally toolless fitting and removal. This is probably the best option for combining having safe travel seats when needed with having the extra storage space when not.

I don't know if you have already purchased the seats, but if not, these - https://wildcamping.co.uk/threads/for-sale-eldiss-folding-travel-seats-as-new.93331/ - might be of interest?
These are designed go under the benches and fold down when not needed. using the Unwins would likely work very well with these

They look very interesting but, Aquire seem to be circa £500 new, so how do Eldis justify this phenomenal 300% price🤔

Irrelevant when you can get the pair of Eldiss ones in that for sale post for around £400 and they have never been used ;)

Folding seats must have the belts fitted to the van and inspected, seats with belts must be rigid and bolted down with the correct plates under the floor, all in vh construction regs.forward from beds.jpgtable seats.jpg

They are legal. They are not safe. Better not to have them, which is also legal.

In an accident, seatbelts in sideways facing seats are likely to do more harm than good.

I thought they fitted into seat base, forward facing!!!
But do belts fit to floor or just the seat frame?🤔

This is very interesting could they be installed in a Eldiss Accordo 105 2 berth to carry extra folk not sure the face of the seats fold like they do in the video of the Majestic though.

You will also have to change the V5 to reflect the extra seats and then tell your insurance company that you have modified the vehicle. Dont be surprised if they are not happy or load the premium. They are taking extra risk with two more bodies. Probably cheaper to just buy something else that has four seats with the correct belts.

adding travel seats in campervan conversions is a very common happening. it is not like it is a unique event!

Good point was only wondering if pos.....don't think there's enough room under there anyway can't afford another Van just yet, thanks Chris.

Does that mean they can’t be fitted, or unlikely to be insurer approved, if they are?
Yes you can fit factory folding belted seats, but again must have correct size under floor plates, no problem with insurance if the seats have a standard kit or other safety markings.
