Drove from Tortosa Aire late morning, expecting to spend 1 night on Benicarlo Aire (no facilities), before moving on to Moncofa Aire for the maximum 2 days, and to empty/refill. The N340 from just before the outskirts of Vinarhos to the outskirts of Benicarlo is being dug up, and the diversions are a PITA. When we arrived at Benicarlo, not a Motorhome to be seen - just a couple of barricades with a note saying that parking is only permitted during the daytime ...

We have the location stored on the SatNav, so never bothered to check on the App where one can search for sites. This does confirm the closure, which is a shame, because if anyone needs emergency repairs at Autocaravanas Tambo, the Benicarlo Aire is only 2 miles away, so perfect if the repair has to be booked in for the following day etc.

Moncofa Aire has reopened after being resurfaced and generally tidied up during Autumn 2025, *BUT* the 48 hours maximum stay is being enforced quite strictly. The daily Police check is around noon, so, if you arrive in the afternoon, you can probably get until just before midday on the 3rd day ...

In February 2025, the Police had a blitz on M/homes who had stayed 48 hours and then moved to the side streets alongside the abandoned new builds, but everyone has returned and no Police follow up on enforcement seems to operate. On reflection, we were issued with a notice to move on in February, but we did have the ramps out to level across the camber. If there’s no ramp usage etc, then we should be ok, as we're just sleeping in our vehicle ...

If we get the heave-ho on Xmas Day, we'll just move to Xilxes Parking (no facilities) to overnight and nip back to Moncofa to empty/refill before moving further afield
