Availability of DIY Basic Tools In This World Beating UK Economy

Almost certainly they'd not be able to. The system will record what has been put in stock and what has been sold (or written off). Very unlikely that branch staff will be allowed to adjust inventory records, for security reasons.

I've a little bit of background in retail and stock control....

They absolutely can do. The security aspect comes from every change being logged along with a user ID. Change reports can automatically be sent to managers to check as well.

What is possible is that they may not have been trained and don't know how to do it.

Or, it's a delivery that has just arrived and not yet been booked in.

Remember, it's in the company's interest to have this right because they can miss out on sales.

I am surprised if they haven't got a 'live' stock system in place. I used to work in electrical wholesale and we had a live system and that was the best part of 20 years ago.

Did they also have neutral?
