Thoughts please on my bike rack. Not sure I have ever used it and now there is water ingress around it. Have a quote to include removal repair and refastening to van. My question is it worth having it put back on? Van is now 20 years old and even with regular work is slowly getting damp bits (one thing I hadn't realised despite research was that CI's are prone to damp. I know I can have a storage box put on for family borrowing but plated at 3.4 I don't want overenthusiatic family members who borrow it overloading the van through lack of knowledge. I have a jokey deal with my Motor Mend guys to keep it going for the next few years until I'm 80.🤣

If you don't think you will ever use it, I would suggest not having it put back.
One cause of water ingress is when fittings such as racks move around, causing the sealant to pull and loose connection to the surface and it only takes an pin-prick of a hole for water to come in and you are back to square one.
