I know that many folk travel through Bilbao to/from the ferry however has anyone actually stayed there?

We have it in mind on next year's Spanish trip that we'll stay there for a few days and have a look around. It seems a sensible place to have a rest after driving down through France.

Yes you can stay on the car park just before the offices, make sure you park up against the wall and don't take up the staff parking places, I think it is on the well known parking sites

No. I've never been to Bilbao. Some of them have useful feedback from motorhomers who have stayed there.

I can't help with suggestions of where to stay but having watched an episode of Spain with Michael Portillo on channel 5 recently, Bilbao does look like it's well worth a visit. It was the Bilbao & San Sebastian episode, should be able to find it on catch up.
