Braer

The Braer disaster hit Shetland 25 years ago. I read this article and thought I'd share it as some members here have an interest in North Sea matters. It's quite long and sometimes a little technical, but quite an amazing story I think.

Just testing to see if replying makes this thread appear.

It does!

I didn’t recall this and my wife says I’m a disaster freak as I do tend to read about them. I really like to know how it happened and why it happened, great post.

Not one I'd heard of either, very interesting, cheers, particularly apt at the moment with another tanker disaster in the news. I was watching it on the news today which got me thinking about all the tankers sunk in WW2,I've read most of the stories but the one thing I've never seen mentioned was the environmental impact at the time,it must've been huge in some parts of the world, maybe the details were kept secret as with most things during the war.
