Not seen this mentioned here before, so thought it worth doing so, as it is a safety recall

Affected units start from 05-21-xxxxx, so if you have one supplied before May 2021 I would expect it to outside the recall, but you can check the link above to make sure.

The information in the recall states:

Product: CBE CSB2 / CSB2-LT Battery Chargers
Hazard: The product poses a risk of fire as the device can be damaged by voltage peaks in the vehicle environment and overheats. This presents a serious fire hazard for people driving the motor-home or people inside/outside the motor-home due to fire or smoke inhalation.
Corrective action: The product has been recalled from end users. (See below for more information)

However, I don't know how pro-active this recall was as despite being classed as a "serious fire hazard", I took one out of a '22 Burstner this morning and looked to me like it had been overheating!

If you are not sure what this looks like, it is a small square box maybe 2" wide? Photo below.

I would suggest it is worth having a little look to see if you have one of these, as very often was a standard fit on some brands/models. Can't tell you exactly where to look to check but likely to be close to a B2B or a Power Distribution box such as a Schaudt EBL unit.

The contact address in that recall is now out of date, so maybe if need to, go to the CBE website (www. cbe.it) and look for a contact form or email address.

CSB2 as per the link rather than the CBS2 in the post title!
https://www.alko-tech.com/en/Newsroom/Media/CBE-is-recalling-CSB2-and-CSB2-LT-devices_ptd_3482 has some useful info.
It would appear that these units are not battery chargers as such but provide a feed from leisure battery to engine battery to keep the latter topped up.
Yes, it is a trickle charger, but as the company refer to them as a "battery charger", I used that name. Go moan at CBE, not me, for the description :)

PS. for the "more useful information", check the link provided in the article ;)

One of the reasons I thought it worth posting this was when I saw what the one I took out of a Burstner yesterday looked like ....

I would say that probably got quite warm? I am not sure it if actually still worked at all and replaced it with an Ablemail AMT12-2.
