One of the channels I subscribe to had a minor rant yesterday about how YouTube is forcing them to advertise within the videos, quite a lot already advertise their own merchandise to earn a crust, but this new thing is to advertise products from other companies not stuff they use in the videos either in some cases it maybe a food or a drink etc but usually unrelated to the channels normal content, the more popular channels already get companies contacting them offering the type things that they may already use such as an impact wrench etc but they have to take the whole range, it free, but not honest if they don't use them and he doesn't like that as he has integrity and just refuses, he is happy to review tools he has bought as then he can be honest about how good or bad they are.

It is a growing trend and as an avid viewer it's a bit sickening as these people are not actors, most have a passion for what they do and just want to share it but you can see that they are not happy doing it.

I know that Phil has recently reminded us about hate speech, etc., but calling Pudsey "honey" seems to be going unduly far the other way. ;)
Loads of people call me honey, some even bring me some, I like a spoonful in my bedtime hot milk.

What I don't like is how some 'tubers weedle in a promo product under a guise of suddenly in desperate need of it. For example the video could be a 'vanlifer' type one and then someone comes in from walking the dog or whatever and says "That was a great walk. time for lunch I think" and then remarkably they open a cupboard and find a sponsored energy food in there and talk about how wonderful it is and here is a 10% discount if you use the link, blah blah blah. I used to watch one couple who I know are popular with many forum members here and TBH it became very tedious with their repetitive 'discoveries' of sponsored stuff and I unsubbed them. (funnily enough, I did buy an item they showed one one, but it was something they bought themselves on Amazon as a pressie for someone. Not got an issue with that as they had a genuine connection to that which wasn't promotion-based)

I don't think Youtube are "forcing them" either. That is a nonsense. Maybe they mean to earn sufficient money from the videos, but that is a different matter.

You're entitled to your opinion David, but I watch a LOT of YouTube every single day as I'm not able to do much else.

I just went to the channel to post the video I mentioned but it has been taken down by Youtube already or at least I couldn't find it, and I'm not watching all the videos to prove it.

This is the channel.

I just noticed that there is no ANGRY emoji on here, but there is on WC.

I haven’t been notified of anything new probably because my channel is far too small!

A few years ago YouTube changed their advertising policy and decided to impose adverts on all channels even if not monetised.
Up until then I had not monetised my channel but obviously was left with zero choice.

I just now leave everything at the defaults when publishing so have no idea what garbage they pump at viewers or where in the video assuming they aren’t using preventative tools.

I personally haven’t watched an advert on YouTube or the vast majority of sponsored crap for quite a few years now because I use smarttube combined with SponsorBlock
