Changing Leisure battery

Installing Lithium isn’t just as simple as drop it straight in.
There’s many things to consider when installing Li and it can be costly if you get it wrong;
  • Engine to Leisure Charging. Most Li require a DC-DC or B2B charger to get charge from your engine‘s alternator safely.
  • most lithium require a unique MPPT regulator to charge lithium from your solar panels.
  • are you using a high output inverter? Some lithium have a amperage restriction output, so you have to be careful what you discharge from a lithium battery under a heavy load.
  • Mains charger. Does it have a suitable charge profile for a lithium battery? And does it also have an adequate amperage output?
These are just some of the many questions that need to be asked when changing from conventional batteries to Lithium. Best you do a search under Lithium Batteries, but it is best to probably take a look @ Geeky Phill’s video, which clears up a lot about lithium installation and why they are great, but also need to be respected. We always do a consultation before recommending product to our customers.

My LB is fine ..sealed AGM.
Been considering what to do if it fails...
Lithium look great BUT yes a BIG BUT so many other considerations..
No 1 do I need the extra power due to the ability to run Lithium down ..Probably not.
Also
  • MPTT charger
  • Will EB still get maintained by solar ( as mine does provided main switch is on)
  • Alternator power
  • On board EVG 38/20 - DS/IU power unit
All or some may well add significantly to the costs and may reduce functionality
My MoHo is 14 years old so I suspect just too many changes
So extra cost Extra hassle and as we are quite OK with 1 x 85 amp-hour LB WHY (at least for now)

Not a "Lithium Luddite" but "If it ain't broke........don't fix it"

Our mh is 23 years old so it will too expensive to justify the cost. Never mind I will fetch a new battery tomorrow.

If someone is using a fair amount of power on lead acid they may well already have suitable equipment so for those it could well be a drop in solution if they need to change so long as the lithium comes with a bms
