Chateau - and Motorhomes

I've been watching a programme on TV called 'Escape to the Chateau DIY' and wondered if there were any Chateau that you know of that allow overnight Motorhome stops similar to the the Aires system ?

We start meandering through France next week and quite fancy stopping in the peace and quiet of a Chateau grounds overnight.

Any help appreciated.

:D :D :D :D

I've certainly enjoyed watching the program, but no idea about parking.

Some of the French Passion sites are in the grounds of Chateaux. Mind you that can just be a big house with a vineyard.

My wife sent an email last week to dick strawbridge asking about stop over in his grounds and to my wife’s surprise and joy he replied very quickly to her and said fee fee I have thought about this but at present we have so much going on just now we can’t diverse to another thing at the moment but will be thinking on possibly next term doing something like this ,he very kindly put the Mrs on his keeping you informed e mail thingy which I think is a great way to go about this, good luck to him with all his ventures

Love that programme , strangely enough I asked my wife if she would like to stay at one of the chateaus in our van, and help out with the work required there for a couple of months , she said she would and so would I , just up my street that , could be very interesting.

Is that fee fee as in pay or is it free as in gratis?

Will mention this at the next email might be a way to get help with his projects on the land

Thanks for the replies.

Gamping.com has been suggested as a site with a few Chateau overnight stops - I'm still trawling through it and it does have some decent Chateau stopovers.

I think the guy who is renting the other Chateau and is working like a Trojan is the one who most needs help, his brother who came to help him came over as a bit of a wimp I thought, especially with the Sheep ?

We have stayed at Azay la Redeau, Villandry, Sully le Loire,Maeouil,Monbazilliac, the last 2 just carparks out side, the first 2 are aires outside the grounds now under the control of campingcarparks.com this firm is taking over many popular aires through France I've preregistered for their card to save messing around trying to register at the entrance machine which came by post in 4 days. Sully le Loire is a large popular aire & was still free last year

Not actually in the chateau grounds but a very quiet Aire next door in Chef-Boutonne,can walk around it and I believe it's open depending on time of year, also has a nice fishing lake in the grounds.

That program is on a repeat run isn't it? If not I will have to do catch up, I saw it in the planner but didn't bother this time as watched them previously.

There are plenty Chateau that allow you in on camp sites, I think the first proper camp site I stayed at in France back in 89/90 was the Chateau des Orme in Brittany if that was how it was spelt. Did a couple of weeks where I joined brother in law and family starting at La Rochelle then working back up for the St Malo ferry, them back to Jersey and me and one of the daughters back to England. It had a very good golf course back then if I remember right which is why Brother in Law case it but it was a nice site if you want one. Suppose that was knocking on 30 years ago now though so may not even still be there :)
