Aldi and Lidl sell cheap litre bottles of colsa
a lot on the forum use it
pour four bottles down variuos drains ,drive around a few miles then empty waste tank
it flushes out all the crap and gets rid of smells
think it's about 40 p a bottle
a lot cheaper and does the job recognised products do

We have used similar for years and even orange squash works well and leaves a nicer smell.
I think from memory Gordon, your MOT is today.
Best of Luck, hope all goes well! (y)

Do yo flush with water afterwards? If not doesn't it become a wasp/fly magnet in warmer times?

No need to as the waste water you put into it will flush it pretty quick
We would usually do it when we are using the van

Not very often we do, but sometimes when down in hot Countries it can happen. We don't put any dirty greasy stuff down the plug holes although we do daily shower. Can that be greasy? with soap, possibly ;)

edit was to change predictive from great to greasy

I'm guessing the niffs either come from the kitchen sink; or everywhere if dirty water is left in the grey tank for too long in warm/hot weather, like you say Graham.

Yea, we once were on a campsite down the river Lot in France for a few days, although even then we used our own facilities and after we left, What a Smell!! smelt like dead fish and suspected all sorts of things.
Later that day, we poured orange squash down the kitchen sink
Did the trick(y)

It’s a good idea to empty your grey water before you leave a Meet, three to four bottles of coke down the plug holes and then drive home. We have a favourite drain, just down the road, that we empty the coke/gunge into, so the grey tank is empty when we get home.
