I find it rather sad ,from my house I can see a quite attractive church in the next village during the summer when there is so called music all night until six in the morning for the festival the church spire is lit up all night but at Christmas not a light to be seen, even if you are non religious this seems a sad sign of the times.

There about 4 mths early as he was borne april, they just hijacked winter salstice.

Huh, maybe they get enough in at Christmas and don't need to advertise. I'd still like to see lights though...

Our local church has approx 20 Christmas trees inside all lit up. Made / decorated by various organisations in the town and on display from 1at December. They are visible through the windows and look beautiful. The town lights are also continued through the churchyard and round the perimeter. But, would you believe, there are people who complain about the lights and the bells ringing on Christmas eve and morning.

Why dont they buy some food or give shelter instead of wasting time and electric, its what they preach.

Some people have complained about the church bells playing Christmas carols Ruth I used to love standing outside on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day listening to them

Something i've never understood. Why choose to live somewhere if there are aspects of the area that you don't like. A church has bells, farms have animals that can be noisy and smelly...just don't get it, Whats even harder to understand is that the law has been known to uphold their claims.....barmy,

There about 4 mths early as he was REborne april
Fixed that for you

They're about 4 mths early as he was born April, they just hijacked the winter solstice.
Fixed the fix .. any improvement anyone?

P.S My understanding, as an atheist, is that He was born; died and was resurrected; and that the second coming (rebirth) is still awaited.
Maybe He will have a joint second coming with the Legendary Prophet Zarquon at the restaurant at the End of the Universe .

The only improvement that I can think of is you could apologise to Trev for taking the pi $$ out of the fact that he is dyslexic
He has a good sense of humour so he will not be upset but it isn't very PC and it was just as easy to understand

Apparently, it has been worked out by Astronomers and those kind of people, based on what was seen on the day of Christ's birth that Jesus was actually born on the 29th May, 4CE (aka 4AD).
I understand Christmas Day being chosen to be the 25th December was linked to a Pagan Festival but does it really matter if it is not totally accurate? Not really as it just represents a common day of Celebration to those who wish to believe.

Actually, the church has a big sign saying everyone welcome to come and sit, think, or just shelter. They have a foodbox which anyone in need is asked to help themselves from. Did a meal for any people on their own, at the pub next door, but church funded. I am not really a churchgoer but impressed with the way this particular church brings the community in by involving everyone. The regular displays ( like the trees) mean that people are always wandering round. Haven't seen any homeless in the town but definitely needy people everywhere.
