we are victims of our own success the hobby of motorhoming that is! we’re on an aire at manta rota that we have visited 5 times in the last eight years it holds 100vans in 10mtr bays water and sewage inc in the €4.50 daily charge and electric available, it is near a beach and has got a nice small town nearby , when we first came here in 2009it would be 50% full with the occasional full timer now it’s full all the time the occasional slot comes open ie 4/5 a day the rest have huge beasts parked in them barely within the bays with accompanying trailers cars etc , it’s no longer people touring but bringing mobile homes south for the winter the cost of parking one of these here for a month barely £100 so you can see why they do it, on the plus side the car parking outside the aire seems undisturbed 20/30 vans there for free most nights the police drive around but haven’t said anything , & one new arrival had been into the tourist office in monto gordo and been told they were encouraging wildcamping so maybe hope yet,

Hi Ken,I'm another one that'll be doing that,once I've finished converting my truck I'll be looking for a winter park up as well,although I'd like to make a few moves during the course of the season.

At Manta Rota 2 years ago when the aire was full the attendant told us to wait in the car park and he'd call us when a space was available 2 days later the police came and moved everyone parked there they took registration numbers. What they need to do is have a time limit on the aire 48 or 72 hrs

Depends on their thinking..They may be happy with lots of big campers staying so regular income both for the site and local businesses.
Maybe a 7 night limit would be good

it’s a completely different mindset from those of us who like to meander our way around these are guite generous plots you have a 10x5 mt plot next to an access road 6m wide only used by the campers those on millionaires row face out to the sand dunes you would be much more crowded in any of the costas for a fraction of the price , don’t forget this place saw motorhome’s as a problem a dozen years ago apparently persuaded by a local dutch hairdresser to see it as an asset throughout the winter this place is pulling in €3k a week for the local,council on what would have been an empty car park not to mention the revenue spent in the bars & shops

Agreed..Not for us...But good for Full-timers with big RVs and for the locals

there’s a brit guy in the corner was same spot last year it’s a concorde charisma doesn’t have a tow car or trailer but uses a wildax conversion as a runabout and to commute home leaves the van down here.???

You wouldn't want to be buying his Concorde from him then as the Spanish sun really eats the plastic parts on motorhomes !
Friends of ours bought a van that had only been used in Spain and even the awning was all wrinkly and crispy , the body plastic was shot but someone must have treated it to sell !

Only just started on this motorhoming lark,as my other half and I want different things in life.Seems a good idea to go to warm places for the winter,but I think a Time limit is a good idea
