DFDS Seaways - Systems Failure, Corporate Ineptitude or False Pricing?

The discount is only available on the Newhaven - Dieppe route as it's paid for by the Dieppe commune presumably to boost business in the town. The discount is also available to under 25's. It is my preferred route across the channel and along with others have never experienced problems booking over the phone. However the last time I booked, I decided that my French was better than the operator's English and she agreed to change mid-call.
 
Another vote for DFDS. I’ve used the Dieppe crossing for all of my trips in the van, with only two exceptions. And have always used the discount, without a problem.
It’s unfortunate Steve, that the one time you tried to, you had problems. Taking your experience as normal, would be a mistake. Failing to try again, would make you the loser. Tbh, I honestly think they are a brilliant company.

Of the exceptions, one was the tunnel, during COVID, the other with P&O, on the Calais route going into Germany.
If I was feeling particularly flush, I would use the tunnel again. But P&O? I could never give my business to a company who treat their employees the way they did a couple of years ago.
If I were to go east into Europe, instead of my usual south, I’d use the Dunkirk crossing.
