My three tips refer to speed limits
Tip 1
Often with small villages there are no limit signs but the White diamond with an inner yellow diamond marks the entrance to a village and so a 30mph limit.
Tip 2
a cobblestone area in a village is often 20mph these are usually marked.

Tip 3
when leaving a village wait until the end of village marker before exceeding 30 mph
The white and yellow diamond with a black line through it

The diamond sign has nothing whatsoever to do with speed limits and you will find that the diamond with a black line through it is at the entrance to a built-up area, not the exit.
The diamond sign denotes a priority road, the black line through it indicates the end of priority.

If there is no sign denoting an actual speed limit, it is the place name sign that denotes the start of a 50km/h speed limit and (in the absence of any indication to the contrary) the name sign with a red line to it denotes the end of that speed limit.

CORRECT!

Apologies for the inaccuracy over signs.
Thus the essence of may advice is the same but taking onboard the detail re when a village starts and ends

Eyes closed, buttocks clenched and a quiet word with your guardian angel---------then stamp on the loud pedal
