Ducato/Boxer 2015 - What are these tubes?

Below the far outer ends of the under windscreen scuttle I have black convoluted tubes which are topped with open-topped plastic boxes. The boxes are not connected to anything. Does anyone know what they are. The scuttle drain hoses are very different.IMG_4177.JPGIMG_4176.JPG

I've got a similar Citroen relay 2016 but I ain't got those!

looks like the water divert system to stop rain water going straight onto engine a causing probs with injectors getting seized into head etc

Fiat ( and probably Peugeot and Citroen ) vans have had issues for years with water running onto top of engine or onto battery when that used to be in the engine bay ( used to find its way into the battery causing it to overflow and spill acid over paintwork)

I think they have tried different things over the years to rectify it i had a mod fitted by fiat on a recall back in 1997

From the OP; the vehicle does have rubber hoses which drain the scuttle and prevent water flowing over the engine - these are the rubber hoses seen in the photos. The items that puzzle me dont connect to any drain holes and are under the scuttle where water would not flow to. Very puzzling

It looks like a funnel to collect water and channel it away

Where does the other end of this convoluted pipe run to and does it just empty onto road?

Perhaps its to capture water dripping from above when bonnet closed ?

from the OP: Rather than my inadequate description, it would be useful if any X290 Ducato/Boxer owners could look on their vehicles and see if they can make out what these tubes do. Many thanks in advance.

Did the previous owner do a lot of booze cruises? Does the pipe connect to a 40 gallon drum in between the chassis members?

I previously stated they act to divert the rain water one looks like it’s a duck valve ,both should just act as a run away
If you pour a cup of water down them you should see they dump onto the ground

Hi there The Laird

I think we are wasting our time as the OP wants others with same van to look rather than the OP get underneath

Perhaps OP has mobility issues and can not look for themselves ?

Ps no offence meant to OP in case this is read the wrong way

But surely pouring the cup of water most people can manage and I also do not mean to be disrespectful

From the OP: Yes climbing under the van is a bit difficult now, but I dont have any more mobility issues than you would expect for my age (72). But I have looked underneath and neither these tubes nor the scuttle drain tubes can be seen.
However since neither I nor anyone else has any idea what the tubes are for, I am reluctant to pour water into them to see what happens. For instance, what if they are to top up some fluid somewhere or maybe are vent pipes from something that needs to be kept dry?
No offence intended on my part either, but if you are not a X290 owner then please skip to the next post. But if you are a X290 owner then perhaps you can bring more experience and intelligence than I (not difficult) to examining them - just under the scuttle. See what you think.
