Gotta say, your homemade Gala pie looks amazing!

Did not realise how easy hot water crust was to make till a couple of years ago, , much easier than short crust pastry!

My wife made some crunchy ginger biscuits the other day and they were fabulous.

Sorry no picture because we've scoffed the lot.

Pork pie/ gala pie warm on day of making with veg and mash....even better second day cold with salad, pickles and coleslaw . Plus fruit and nut cake
What is your favourite quick supper / snack View attachment 54182?
I'd like that, but it's right up Tommy's street. And he's going to eat the rest for breakfast lol

Breakfast/lunch/dinner snack
a mix of
minced pork
finely diced long beans (similar to runner beans)
rice flour
egg
formed into flat cakes and fried
Oh ! Thai red curry included
A bit like Onion Bhaji
Nida sometimes used Banana flower (again finely chopped) NOT banana flour !

My daughter in law makes something like this for me when we visit but without the red curry paste. 😋

Yes, somewhat surprisingly not all Thais like hot food !
eg Nida (my wife)...When she first came to Uk and we were on holiday we went to an Indian restaurant
As Captain Bertorelli would say "What a mistaka to Maka"
Then we were delayed coming from Thailand (Iceland Volcano dust). We had booked via India so had to come back via India..WE had a 12 hour stopover in Bombay (or was it Delhi ? no matter) 12 hours of curry smell....NOT IMPRESSED

( I think your daughter in Law is Thai ?)

PS a whole raft of picture here
and again here

A couple of days ago, running short on supplies, I looked on YouTube for something to cook with the spaghetti, eggs and milk. It’s amazing what you can do with simple ingredients.
Cooked the pasta in the normal way. Drained it, then whipped in a mix of beaten egg, milk, butter and cheddar cheese. It’s surprising what you can come up with.
Something new to my repertoire 😬. Very tasty.
I’ll be doing that again.

My daughter in law makes it all for me specifically as I can't eat spicy. She eats hot ++ I even get satay and som tam without chilli! She has a restaurant ( or did till covid-19!)
The Indian spices apparently are all so different from Thai. Both my Asian d.i.l like Indian but it is no way comparable.....

ps. Love your home!

Chicken Satay is one of our favourites !...and so easy ...We buy the packet sauce mix with coconut milk, marinade about 1 hour and grill.
When in the Camper we grill on our CADAC !
