Flexible gas pipe, how often should you change it?

Something just flashed up in the back of my mind, how often should you change the flexible/rubberised gas pipes on our motorhomes?

Some have a date stamped on them

My logic has always go with the date written on the hose.

If it hasn't got a date and the van was bought second hand, then I'd replace it as part of the deal. (Else, every five years.)
