My fridge has devrloped a strange fault. It is working ok on 240v and (when engine is on) 12v. However on gas while the freezer compartment is below freezing point the fridge compartment is not cool. I have a fridge thermometer and it is showing 15° on gas. The fridge is a dometic.
Thanks Phil, but the burner, jet and flue were checked yesterday morning by the guy who does the habitation servicing. The fridge was then left on for 8 hours. The freezer went down to -8°, but the fridge stayed at +15°. When I put it on 240v the freezer went down to -11° and the fridge to +4.
A call to dometic is in order I think.
As I am now going to be green field camping from tomorrow for three weeks I will be freezing blocks and using the fridge as a cool box.
Just a thought but do you know if the correct size jet is installed in the burner assembly, if it has ever been changed it may have been for the wrong one.
Likely that the cooling fin arrangement in the fridge portion needs re seating with the correct transfer paste.
If the freezer is being cooled correctly the actual cooling system must be working as designed, as the same circuit cools both parts.
However if when on gas it preforms poorly that does point to a problem with the amount of heat the burner is producing, as when working correctly the most efficient of the three choices of power is gas.
Is the person that did your habitation service a Dometic trained and approved engineer?
I had a similar problem once, and it turned out to be ICE. Back of the freezer box was iced up near enough to the thermostat, so preventing the fridge working properly. Doesn't sound like this is your problem, but everything looked at.....
