Our 3 way dometic fridge only works when we’re on hook up. We’ve had it looked at and it’s been condemned as the gas pipes are corroded or something. Be lovely if we could get it mended we’re in Somerset. Struggling to find a new one as the current one is 82cm high and 49 cms wide. New ones seem to be 53 cms wide.

If the pipes holding the refrigerant were corroded, it would probably be the end for the fridge, but if it works in mains, that's not the problem.

If the (lpg) gas pipes are corroded, that's quite unusual, and a trivial fix: easier than swapping the fridge.

It might be that it is beyond repair, for some other reason but I doubt it. I'd suggest a second opinion.

You don't say how old the fridge is. Years ago we had a fridge with similar problems. The jet would block with an orange dust . . . Rust!
Turned the gas off (!!) took the burner off, and repeatedly tapped the descending gas pipe. Gave the gas a quick blast and a cloud of rust dust blew out. Rinse and repeat 2 or 3 times until no further output. Clean or replace the jet and burner. It worked for us. Cost £0.

when cleaning the jet it’s worth taking the pipe off back to the branch & blowing/pulling through that saves doing the jet again next month
