Looking for advice on what type of fridge is best. Need to fit one in our Renault Master ready for the glorious summer next year. :)

Someone did a test and a 230v small fridge with a inverter and a large bank of batterys worked out best, you will require s/panels to help recharge the batterys.

It needs a lot of batteries to run a fridge off 12v. I would always have a gas, 12v,220v one to give you the options in different conditions.
If you intend to use your van without 220v when it is cloudy or short days. ( September to March ) then I think gas is the only way unless you are happy to have vast batteries and a generator.

Dont require vast batterys,4 90ah will do running a inverter, fridge £125 which are a lot better than the gas ,but you must move every day or two recharging the batterys.

Hello nimmo
Personally would not mess about and go for a three way fridge, I know they are not cheap but would give you the best in all circumstances especially if your a wild camper. The fridge uses very little gas and when your moving runs of the vehicle, if you go posh and go to a site with hook up you will be able to use it that way. We had to replace our fridge two years ago at a cost of £900 fitted but some of that was covered by a insurance policy. But a good way to get hold of a 3 way fridge is to buy a old caravan, caravans go to sites and run them on electric, they are very rarely run on gas. If you have the space pinch all the bits off it take off the body and sell the base as a trailer. My boat uses a caravan base. If you keep your ear to the ground 2 to 3 hundred will get you an old van.

Not necessarily. We caravanned for a number of years before we started using sites and EHUs.

Many caravanners use rallies like we did.
