Front blinds.

Hi everyone,
Don’t know how much I would rely on this but have read that the Spanish police are imposing fines of 200 Euros on vans with remis type front blinds as they slide on rails and therefore restrict your visibility.

My PVC has a full set of remis blinds. I've just had a look and there is no way on earth that they impact visibility in any way.

Without more detail it sounds like a rumour. 🙂

Rubbish, they do sort of affect the view to the mirror on the driver's side, but I have a neck under my head, and luckily it still moves enough to counteract that.

You are sorted anyway as your side blinds are buggered and don't move anyway ;)

actually ... on your point on the mirror, the frame of the remis side blind on the drivers side for me totally blocks the top part of the mirror and renders it useless. I have to move my body position way to much to see the mirror so it is worthless for any kind of regular 'glancing' as you do as a driver. Most Annoying it is :( (The lower blind spot mirror is much less affected oddly)

I've not had chance to go down and check it out yet, other stuff to do, but I will give it a good look with pictures.

The quality and fit of these blinds varies considerably Ive seen them on commercially built Sevels based vans looking and operating reasonably ok, but the aftermarket ones I bought for my Sprinter are appalling quality, made from extremely cheap weak flimsy plastics, the magnets have come unstuck, the tiny screws cant be done up tightly due to the plastic being too brittle causing permanently rattling!

However it’s the obstruction to visibility especially the one fitted to the drivers side door that really annoys me, the wing mirror is partially covered and the bulk of the plastic frame increases the size of the blind spot areas

The front blinds don’t obstruct visibility but are useless in my van because they don’t fit around the rear view mirror so never close fully.

I wouldn’t be surprised if in our increasingly nanny state society that somewhere took offence to them however I would doubt it’s the Remis in particular more likely the thick curtains lorries use which can be quite bulky!

My van is a Spanish conversion. Front blind lifts up from bottom of windscreen. Window blinds fold down (like a fan) to bottom of window

The much preferred version for me.

I've seen them over here too, I think it's just the later version, not sure if you have to remove the mirror or if it clears them now.

They swerve past the mirror.

It must depend on the ability of the converter. My mirror and blinds mesh seamlessly. (AutoTrail V-Line) It was part of my checklist before buying.

Mine fits fine, but the cable for the monitor holds it apart at the top, so I have to squeeze it closed so the magnets grab.

I find an elastic band looped around the two pull handles are good to keep the two sides together is useful as the magnets are ok, but not super-powerful.
