Gas regulator

Hi guys, not Motorhome related just looking for advice, we fitted a household combi boiler in our static caravan which runs of 47kg calor gas bottles, it works brilliantly, however, approx every second bottle the regulator packs in, we’re just using the normal regulator that you get from a camping store, does anybody know if we should be using a different type of regulator or why they keep breaking?

Is the boiler rated for LPG or mains gas? Is the regulator capable of providing the gas flow rate of the boiler. I presume the regulator is 1.5kg/h maximum flow is that sufficient for the boiler demand and what is the pipe size? Typically LPG static caravan boilers requires a gas flow rate of 1.8kg/h for water heating and up to that on space heating.

Yes it's a lpg rated boiler..
I think we need reg that allows more gas flow but can find one.

This is a typical 2 bottle changeover / regulator system. Note the flow rate is three times that of the regulator you are using at 4.5kg/h.

I think you need the advise of a Gas Safe LPG engineer.

Does this have to be done by a Gas Safe engineer? For a motorhome or touring caravan, DIY is legal, but I'm not sure it is for static caravans.

Hi I had a similar problem and was advised to have a filter fitted as you can get a residue in the regulator which then stops the gas getting through Truma do one had no problems since

I don't think it is illegal with bottle gas its just like changing a regulator its connected between the bottle and the regulator hope this is helpful the problem with refillable bottles is that you can get get an oily residue which after a while blocks the regulator you don't get this with exchange bottles as the gas is already filtered. allenh
