greece in the spring

hi all

we have been thinking of going to greece from here in the spring and wandered if any one had done this and what would they suggest was the best route option

im assuming i would need to go from spain to italy and then italy to greece unless there is a boat from spain to greece

I bet in the olden safer days you could have crossed over to Morocco and driven the long way around along the north african side of the Med

Hi,

No ferries from Spain to Greece that I am aware of.

As you said, your best bet is probably to drive across to Italy and go from either Venice or Ancona direct to Igoumenitsa or Patras.

Ferry prices/brochures for next years crossings aren't usually released until late December.

Viamare Travel in London will sort you out with the best Italy to Greece option ...Peejay recommended them to me. We ferried a few days ago Minoan and registered as club members online, saving £62.
We’ve only been in Greece 3 days and really loving it.

hi all thanks for the replies so far

it seems i can go by ferry from spain to italy and then ferry to greece

does this seem sensible ?

I was wondering whether you had thought of the ferry Spain-Italy option.

What routes are available - I seem to remember Barcelona-Genoa. What is the cost compared with driving?

As I said previously, Ancona or Venice are probably your best options imo.

Anek/Superfast and Minoan operate on these routes.

It can be a bit of a minefield Barry.
I would have a look through this years brochures first to get an idea of whats on offer, obviously the prices will rise for next year and bear in mind that 'Camping on Board' (Anek and Superfast only) only operates between 1 Apr and 3 Oct and they share ships on the the route even though they both have separate brochures.
Minoan operate alone.

That should keep you busy for a while.
