Funnily enough there was a segment on this morning’s Radio Scotland Out of Doors programme where they interviewed a man in a “village near Carlisle” with a Spitfire in his garden. It is a bit of a stretch to call Moffat a village near Carlisle but I wonder if it was this one? Apparently he built it because he wanted something to do and he chose the Spitfire simply because the plans were easy to get hold of. His Spitfire is built of ply wood covered with fibreglass. It is real size with the only difference being the seat is 1” wider so he can sit in it comfortably!
