I went for wireless pir alarms we have one in the van one in the garage and a couple in the two sheds they detect any movement and the alarm is really loud enough to make any scrotes run plus we have pir floodlights aimed at the drive so anyone trying to walk down the drive the floodlights come on, downside is the one in the garage occasionally gets set off by a spider walking across the sensor.

I have a sign in the lounge that reads:

'We've nothing worth pinching, and as you can see, the place is a tip. But since you've broken in, do feel free to run the hoover round for us. And, no, that's not worth nicking either ...'
