A coiled cable can overheat and catch fire. Always best to uncoil to be safe.

True, uncoil it and wash the van at the same time
lol thats from 3 days driving down through France, I need to find a car wash I can fit the van under.

Our van is German built and French registered and our cable is not a reel but coiled. Unless we are a long way from any hook up, I leave it coiled. Our cable is rated safe, coiled, for 1000w and we never get anywhere close to that.
The only things that use power in our van ( and most European market vans ) are led lights, the fridge and battery charger and maybe a couple of Iphones on charge. If you are in a van made for the UK market, you will have a hot plate on your cooker, electric heating, will use an electric kettle, a hair dryer and probably a fan heater or two so you can use the EHU electricity instead of gas.
In that case, uncoil your lead fully.
