How long do you keep your MH/Camper?

How long do you (or intend to) keep your Motorhome or Campervan?

I do conversions - and I have tended to enjoy the conversion aspect more than the camping aspect, so once I have completed one van I end up buying a new project to start on even though the original intention was always to keep! So Camper one was 2 years, Camper two was 18 months and Camper three (Clarence) is 18 months so far.

Now Clarence is coming onto 90% done, the plan is to keep him for a long time, but I can't help thinking something like a ex-Library bus like Trevors would be a nice base to convert (I am not looking though as if I start to look, I end up buying!)

Don’t get rid of Clarence he is a thing of beauty and unique in his good looks. ?
 
Cant believe that our current camper was ordered in September 2007 and we picked it up in April 2008 new from the factory in Germany

Longest one i have ever kept (this is number 7)
 
Kept my first 6 months, next was a year, then 2 years, 1 year, 2 years, I've had the Trooper 3 years so the longest so far. Next one - who knows?
 
If I see something I prefer I’ll change, but really I’m very happy with what I have so just have to look after it and make it last. Time flies though, I can hardly believe that mine is now seven years old, still on my first van.
I do keep vehicles that I like. I’ve had a motorbike for 42 years and currently have cars that I’ve had for 28years and 18 years,
 
This is the only one that we have owned and will keep it until either it or we die. It suits our needs and anyway we couldn't afford to replace it. Newer ones are pretty but do pretty much the same as ours and I could never justify spending zillions just for a posher van thats still a bed, bog and canteen when all's said and done.

There are two missing as I don’t have pictures of them on my ipad but most I have kept between 3 and 5 years with the exception of the tiny home made caravan as I still have it in my garage at home could not bare to part with it now it’s just used to store camping equipment in keeps it dry and rot free lol.
 
We've had ours since 2011. We have looked at lots since then and have never found another one that ticks as many boxes as ours does. So we will keep it until another one does - unlikely. Why change for change's sake? We have upgraded bits here and there and had a refurb 2 years ago. Worth every penny.
 
Bessacarr E412 2013. Despite loads of hassle when we bought it...which didn’t end until we vowed never to go back to a certain dealer in Glossop no matter what else went wrong... once we got away it has been reasonably well behaved since...ish. After a few abortive attempts to buy another we concluded it actually suits our purposes better than anything new we have seen since. Needing to park on a 5.8m drive and stay within 3.5T does admittedly cut the range of choice somewhat! I think we’ll have it now until either it or us wears out.
 
Have mine now 7 years,first two were stripping and rebuilding,now just one side to paint and connect gas up,would i part ,no mission.
 
Bought my first MH in 2013 very happy with it suits our needs. Like many the problems at the start hurt and where life changing for me, but all ends well and Number Thirteen Bus is staying until we are found with the wheels rotting off and tubs of flowers around us in Spain ;)
 
Im selling my coach built Auto trail Cheyenne 630se next spring and want a conversion.would you be interested in doing one for me when that time comes please?
 
First one 6 years, second one 3 years and present one 5 years; each one led to refining what we really needed and the present one is just right so no plans to change it.
 
Last one 10 years, this one (self build, specialist for current usage plans) will be 5 years. Next one (will be another self build, but different) 10-15 years. Will be a van to keep - whereas the current van is for a 5 year purpose.

Like you, love planning the conversion and love the DIY challenge of it.
 
We’ve had 6 vans in 14 years and the last 4 I replaced at 3 years old, had our Globecar Campscout now 18 months and we will stick with this one now until we stop motorhoming.
