I suspect we all know that generic medicines are often cheaper than the “well known” brands ...... eg:

But I didn’t know that the easy way to check whether the ingredients are identical is by reading the PL code on the box ... eg COLD AND FLU CAPSULES – PL 12063/0066. Just need your glasses for the small print 😂
 
This is something Martin Lewis goes on about from time to time. Same for most of the off the shelf medicines. If I remember right, some of the big brand companies will sell several types of pain relief tablet (migrain, period pain, back pain etc) yet when you look at the PL number it's the same on every pack. Prices vary though!!
 
The PL code will vary depending on the ingredients in the medication, so it’s important to compare like with like, say main brand Nurofen (ibrufen only) with Aldi (own brand ibrufen). There are generic cheap options available for most of the over the counter painkillers.
