Info on tracking devices cost to fit , cost of subs per year. please.

I have had an Automatrics Mtrack for about 14 months, you can get self fit or installed and the good bit is the self fit is even Thatcham Cat 7. I opted for the magnetic mounting jacket and it comes ready to use.
They have excellent recovery rates and I have been very pleased with the service. 24/7 monitoring in and out of the UK.
Not all trackers are the same but have a read and see what they are about. Website is not the easiest to navigate though lol Automatics Trackers

I've recently become slightly addicted to their YouTube videos of their search and recovery operations,I've no idea what the units look like but I'm amazed that they can seem to hide them on digger attachments that seemingly have no obvious hiding places.

If it's insurance approval you seek, make sure it is the new VTS category you are having installed and not the discontinued category 5 & 6 that is still being offered. Subscriptions services range from £90-£200 pending on the operator and level of cover (Uk-Europe etc).

On demand/self installed tracking is varied from a very easy diy fit, through to a professional install with remote immobilisation. Again running costs can be from a simple text message to a service charge of £60.00 per year.

Spend the money on an insurance policy that gives you a decent payout in the event of a theft.

Who want their Motorhome back after being nicked, probably damaged, defiled and stripped?

Someone whom has a lot of love and pride for their van and sees it more than just a mobile tent??
I know I would like to hope that the van with a good security/tracking system would be located very very quickly and recovered as such. We have had a few of our customers being victim of key theft (Fiat), that have been lucky to get their van's back within 24hrs, due to monitored tracking systems, then have up'ed their game with other product to prevent "the horse from bolting the stable".
I can say from the people that have come to us post vehicle theft have been very glad that they have got them back and have decided to add further protection.

I'd prefer to remember the van as I left it.
Probably the same as being burgled but with the added distress of having the walls outside beaten up. No thanks.

PS. I have a tracking system but not going into details about what it is ;)

That ass

That assumes that you can get the insurance without having a tracker fitted - not always the case.

£500.00. plus 10 quid a month subs after 2021.

Wow, £500.00 seems a bit strong for the costs of just the tracking unit and installation. What version is this?
£120 per year sounds the going rate. Most systems have app based software these days.

First sentence.... Stupid comment
Rest ... Sales Pitch
Only a stupid comment if your assuming that everyone has the same attitude towards their m//h as you.
Sales pitch...…… your opinion again. Your not facing customers 5/6 days a week, working on 3 vans a day and listening to their experiences and concerns. Just saying ;)

Would have been looking at £399.00, plus £150.00 per year, Global Sim unit covering 47 countries.

Also why are they referring it as a CAT 6? You need to be looking at VTS S5 for minimum insurance approval on a new installation.
But when do you start paying £150 per annum for ShadowVTS? It looks as though the first 2 years' monitoring is included in the Phantom price. Plus what is the cost (and inconvenience) of a return trip from Manchester to Taunton (and any subsequent trips in the event of rectification work being required)?

If they have included the first 2 years, then I can't argue that it is a good price. I'm still concerned after looking on their website this morning that they are referring it to a Cat 6 product???? Cat 6 was superseded by VTS in Jan 2019, the last thing I would want is for the wrong thing to be installed, so I would go and check. It also looks like they don't do the installation themselves, but using a network of people (not all motorhome dealers) that work on all sorts of vehicles and don't specialise on motorcaravans?
Yes you have to travel to us, but the equipment seldom goes wrong and the software is supported by the monitoring centre, which gives us great peace of mind knowing we as a company have the back-up for the monitoring.

I can't comment on ShadowVTS, only Growler and Non Starter. One round trip on acquisition of the motorhome in order to arrange initial installation. Diversion to Taunton on the way home from first major trip due to repeated malfunctioning of Non Starter v2. Rectification work proved not to have resolved the problem, so major diversion to Taunton on the way home from second major trip due to repeated malfunctioning of Non Starter v2. Was offered Non Starter v3, but this was not compatible with my Windows phone, so downgraded to Non Starter v1. This has performed satisfactorily for the last 2+ years, and I have generally been more than satisfied with service from Van Bitz, but the inconvenience of going to Taunton is something that worried me, particularly as the medium-term intention had been (and might still be) to keep the motorhome in France on a permanent basis.
